Many organizations know who their high potential leaders are but struggle with providing meaningful development for them. It should be the goal of every organization to determine how to provide meaningful mentors, outside leadership experiences, inspiring training, and special projects and/or assignments. The glue that holds all this together is coaching to help the high potential to learn more rapidly and to discern how to incorporate the learning into their behaviors. Habits must be changed for high potentials to reach their potential but this is much harder than intellectually learning about leadership.
